Feeling bitter about Myanmar as an expatriate
Myanmar is a beautiful, peaceful, and prosperous land that was once filled with positive and vibrant energy before the military coup
d'état
. Since the
coup d'état
, the good qualities of Myanmar have gradually diminished, replaced by negativity such as violence, revenge, death, discrimination, injustice, and poverty. Before the coup
d'état
, the people of Myanmar were hopeful and looked forward to a bright future together.
The Devastating Impact of a Single Bullet on Civilian Lives in Myanmar
It has been four long years since the military seized power in Myanmar, casting a shadow of fear and uncertainty over the land. Night after night, people live under the threat of airstrikes, with no assurance that bombs will not fall upon them as they sleep. Amidst this constant danger, a father stands watch, his eyes fixed upon the sky. When a faint glimmer appears above, he hesitates to see it as a star, for he knows all too well that it might be the deadly light of an approaching airstrike. Ever vigilant, he gives a silent but urgent signal to his children to seek shelter underground at the slightest sound from above.
The Hidden Suffering Amidst Ongoing War in Myanmar
Once, when airplanes soared through the clear blue sky, children would scream with excitement, marvelling at their beauty. Birds glided gracefully in the twilight, painting a scene of serenity and romance. But now, those same skies carry a different burden—planes packed with toxic weapons. People no longer dare to admire the evening sky, fearing the deadly rain of bombs from jets and helicopters. Instead, they scramble for shelter, hiding in underground bunkers, their hearts heavy with fear. The innocent laughter of children has been replaced with silence, as in exile, they no longer have the luxury to complain about food. Survival is uncertain, dictated by poverty and displacement.
